For Intermediate Artists with Drawing and Painting Experience

Workshop deals with the various aspects of painting on location. We learn to see the colors and values of the scene as well as composition and perspective.

Ellen hails from Illinois where she received a degree from Southern Illinois University in Commercial Design. She spent 20 plus years as an award-winning art director/designer at television stations in Ft. Wayne, Milwaukee, Tampa and New Haven. She has participated in many group and juried shows as a member of the Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, and American Impressionist Society. She now teaches painting classes at The Art School in Sandy Springs.

Supply list:

Easel: Any outdoor easel of your preference.

Canvas: Several of whatever size you prefer. Boards are better since no light can shine through the back. Smaller is better. 6” X 8”, 8”X10”, 9” X 12”

Brushes: Bristle brushes flat or filbert in various sizes. Smaller sable brushes to use for detail work and a palette knife.

Paint: Bring whatever you are comfortable with, BUT please include Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, and Ultramarine Blue.

Medium and Thinners: Mineral spirits or odorless turpenoid

Air tight brush washer or glass jar with lid

Miscellaneous Items: Paper towels, trash bag, sketch book, pencils, eraser, clamps, bungee cords, umbrella, camp stool, bug spray, suntan lotion, water, snacks and anything else you might think you’ll need.

Please bring drinking water, portable chair, and weather appropriate dress.
